Sable Series

This painting was developed from sketches, or dare I say, simply doodling. I always have doodling on notes or pages of paper with bits of important daily information. Upon realizing that I had stumbled upon a composition that really appealed to me, I then transferred the forms to my sketchbook. At a later date I began to fill in the form with the color of oil paint, pushing the paint around. This was a really fun painting and I really got very positive feed back from my collectors and friends. The series was challenging for me, to not allow the shapes to just remain organic forms and not become human form. In rendering Sable, the play with color and the kaleidoscope effect of oil and water became an exploration of technique that set my creativity flowing in a new direction for this piece.
