Monet
This is my first tremendously popular painting which I began by choosing
the color palette for first, a unique and somewhat odd approach for me in my
work. One of my favorite combinations of color is that of browns and blues.
I found myself challenged with this piece by pushing paint and playing with
the application without making “mud”. The original rendering in watercolor
was very different from the oil. With the final canvas painting, I used a
non traditional means of applying the paint to the canvas – I used the end
of my paintbrush along with a stiff scrub brush, after applying the paint
with the typical paintbrush. I discovered great success by placing the
shapes of color and then basically finger painting with my newly found
improvised tools. I titled the impressionistic piece Monet, as a tribute to
on of my favorite painters, Monet, master of light and color.
