Colour of Chillmark (Martha's Vineyard)

I have never traveled to the east coast, but have always studied and admired artists and paintings from the east coast. Having an obsession for the northeast coast line landscape, I painted with bold color, overly accentuating the mood of a sunset. Without blatantly placing a sun within the horizon, and letting the common shapes guide us to the shore, I feel that I successfully captured the feeling I’ve been so inspired by. With this image I kept a rough raw texture on the canvas to weather the piece a bit. Initially intimidated by the saturation, I am pleased to find that this image became soothing and peaceful in its vibrancy.
