Africa

For as long as I can remember, a long time dream of mine has been to visit Africa. I imagine it to be the most beautiful place on earth. My mind traveled while painting this piece and my love for the sun shined through, obsessed with the pure color of the landscapes from water to desert to sky. My taste of the warm sun and the visions of heat reflect in the image.

The layers of earth tones of dirt and green pastures combined with the heat waves to play on the colors of Africa. This image was first rendered in watercolor. The overlapping layers fuse together in transparent atmosphere. When I reproduced the image in oil, a window to Africa opened and feelings of sweltering warmth became celebrated on the canvas. I absolutely love this image, it is one of my favorites.
